YOUR YEAR AHEAD 2017
Whether or not 2017 gets off to a slow start, you
should find the momentum of your life and work picks
up from the spring and then again from the autumn. In some
ways, 2017 is a transition year, paving the way for the move of
Jupiter into Scorpio, your Sun sign, from the autumn which should herald a period of renewal and an opportunity or two to expand your horizons and explore pastures new. The move of the North Node into Leo from the spring suggests you must follow your calling, even if that requires leaving the past behind. Uranus in Aries also promises benefits on the work front if you are prepared to be flexible and change with the times. Neptune bestows inspiration and creativity for those who can resist temptation and get down to work. Pluto demands you pay attention to what’s happening on your doorstep since a chance encounter, snippet of information or piece of gossip could be the catalyst that initiates a deep and irreversible change in your perspective on life, love and the universe.
Saturn's influence in 2017
Sober Saturn has been in Sagittarius since the end of 2014 and will finally leave Sagittarius for Capricorn at the end of 2017. Sagittarius is the area of your solar chart associated with your money, possessions and personal resources. Like Pluto, wherever Saturn is found in the horoscope is an area where we need to pay attention, where lessons about the real world and our role and position in it are to be learnt and assimilated. A process by which we develop a more realistic relationship with, and to, reality that enables us to see more clearly, more realistically.
Since Saturn is in one of the money zones of your solar chart, your ability or inability, to exercise self-disciple, restraint and manage your financial affairs will not only determine how much you prosper in 2017, but also influence the choices available to you in the not too distant future. Try to make the most of what you have, to cut your coat according to your cloth and reduce the control, financial, emotional and otherwise, that other people, institutions and your own worldly attachments and desires, has over you. This is also time to get the best possible return for your time and money and where appropriate, to ask for a bigger slice of the pie.
Jupiter's influence in 2017
Jupiter takes approximately twelve years to travel the twelve signs of the zodiac, spending roughly one year in each zodiac sign. Jupiter will be in Libra until October 2017 when it moves into Scorpio, your Sun sign, and where it will remain until November 2017. Jupiter’s move into Scorpio from the autumn promises to bring with it a helping or two of good luck, optimism and opportunities not necessarily due to merit or hard work. C’est la vie. Until then, with Jupiter in Libra, one of the more complex zones of your solar chart, it’s time to step back a little, to finish unfinished business, tie-up loose ends and generally bring closure to those aspects of your life that have served their purpose, are part of your past but not your future. Emotionally and psychologically, this can be a time of healing and renewal, a time to make peace with yourself and your past and to look to the future with wagging your bright and a bushy tail.
The Nodes of the Moon's influence in 2017
The Moon’s Nodes, the North Node of the Moon and the South Node of the Moon, form a pair, an axis and are always opposite one another. Every 18 months or so, they change zodiac sign. The North Node is orientated towards the future, where we’re going, and so points to an area which we need to embrace and develop, where greater opportunities to develop our potential awaits us. The South is associated with the past, where we are coming from, and is considered a place of release, an area of life where we may have become too comfortable, complacent, indulgent or a creature of habit and routine. With the North Node in Virgo until May, this is a great time to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. Whether directly or indirectly, your friends, associates and social network may be of great help to you, so make the most of opportunities to widen your social circle.
From May, the North Node will enter Leo as the South Node enters the sign zodiac sign opposite Leo, Aquarius. Leo is the zone of your solar chart associated with your work, vocation and dealings with those in positions of power and influence. The presence of the North Node in Leo is favourable for your career and vocation but you must be prepared to answer the call when opportunity knocks. With the South Node of the Moon in Aquarius, this is where you need to let go, or at least reduced your entanglements and simplify your life.
Since Aquarius is the area of your solar chart associated with matters relating to your private life, home, family and property matters. This indicates that you should reduce the time and energy spent on domestic concerns and family dramas that may be preventing you from pursuing your path, your vocation and doing your thing out in the world. If a career opportunity comes your way that requires you to change or rearrange your living situation, be prepared to make it happen.
Uranus's influence in 2017
Uranus is associated with change and upheaval, often sudden and unexpected. Uranus wakes us up from our narrow view of things and brings with it a new perspective that may actually make clear and common sense to us afterwards although prior to its influence in our lives we didn’t notice, or failed to notice, what we later consider an obvious and natural course of events. Uranus takes approximately 84 years to travel the 12 signs of the zodiac, spending, about 7 years in each zodiac sign and so therefore is considered a background influence for most people until it triggers some of the more personal points in the horoscope.
Uranus is in Aries, the area of your solar chart associated with the routine and mundane elements of your work and daily schedule, therefore, this is an area of your life where you’re likely to experience change, disruption and variability. To make the most of the opportunities Uranus brings, you need to be flexible, adaptable and innovative and embrace variety, new technology and unorthodox work styles, habits and schedules.
Pluto's influence in 2017
Pluto travels very slowly, taking approximately 248 years to travel the 12 signs of the zodiac. Pluto is in Capricorn, which is not in stressful alignment with Scorpio, your Sun sign and so, if you’re are to notice Pluto’s influence at all in 2017, you’ll need to pay attention. There may be times when what might be considered mundane, day-to-day activities take on greater importance and intensity in your life. A message received or sent, an incident on a short journey or your daily commute, a snippet of conversation exchanged or overheard, or an interaction with a relative or someone you meet locally that sets you off, or points you in a new direction. This is a good time to investigate and explore subjects about human psychology, politics, the mysteries of life and the power of the mind.
Neptune's influence in 2017
Neptune will be in Pisces throughout 2017 and beyond. Like both Uranus and Pluto, Neptune is considered an outer planet. Neptune is also slow moving, taking 165 years to travel the 12 signs of the zodiac and so, like Uranus and Pluto, Neptune's influence reflects social, political and cultural changes that shape and colour the course of history. We experience these outer planets in a personal way when they touch or trigger the sensitive points in our horoscopes. Neptune more than any other planet is not of this world. The world of Neptune is a utopian paradise. Neptune is concerned with selflessness, idealism, spiritual and mystical inclinations, imagination and fantasy. Difficult aspects from Neptune can be stressful since they test our worldview and challenge us to make our dreams and ideals a reality.
Until the South Node of the Moon leaves Pisces for Aquarius in May, the more complex side of Neptune could show itself and so you need to be mindful when it comes to matters concerning, pleasure and desire. Desire for escape could lead to addictive tendencies. Perhaps, until the South Node enters Aquarius in May, it might be advisable to limit the time you spend in the garden of earthly delights. From May however, it should be safer to pursue love and romance, your mystical and creative interests as well as making the most of opportunities to express your talents.
